Anna's Challah: makes 2 loaves

  • mix in bowl, let foam:
    • 3/4 tsp yeast
    • 1 tsp sugar
    • 1 3/4 cup warm water
  • add to bowl
    • 1/2 cup oil
    • 4 eggs
    • 1/2 cup sugar
    • 1 tbsp salt
    • 8 ish cups flour
  • knead
  • let rise
  • braid
  • egg wash
  • let rise
  • egg wash again
  • bake at 375˚F for 30-40 minutes

Chocolate Beet Cake: so good so moist

  • Ingredients for cake:
    • 1 can pickled beets (~15oz)
    • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
    • 1 1/2 cup sugar
    • a bit of vanilla
    • 3 eggs>
    • 2 cups flour
    • 1/3 cup unsweetened/baking cocoa
    • a pinch of salt
    • 1 tsp baking soda
  • Cake Instructions:
    • blend beets including juice into smithereens
    • whisk oil, sugar, vanilla, and eggs together
    • add blended beets and mix
    • add flour, cocoa, salt, baking soda and mix
    • oil bundt tin
    • pour batter into bundt tin
    • bake at 375˚F for 50 minutes
  • Ingredients for Ganache:
    • 1/2 cup cream
    • 4oz chocolate (dark or unsweetened)
  • Ganache Instructions
    • melt cream and chocolate over very low heat until smooth
